"Slips, Trips, Falls and Crutches"

Abstract:

Dr. Borrelli’s main research interests include balance control, fall risk, and gait analysis. In this talk he will give an overview of some of his previous and ongoing work. Topics will include orthotic design/evaluation, assessment of reactive balance in ABI and stroke populations, characterization of arm reactions and stepping reactions evoked by an unpredictable loss of balance (in younger and older adults and total knee arthroplasty), and a case study of the effect of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction on gait six months following surgery.
