Professor Yiannis Aloimonos (CS/UMIACS) has joined ISR as an affiliate faulty member.

Professor Aloimonos's research interests center around active vision, the study of the mechanisms responsible for recovering three-dimensional information from image sequences obtained by an active observer. He applies this knowledge to applications that require descriptions of visual space and space-time to analyze and synthesize visual data. These applications include eye and camera design, video editing and manipulation, graphics and virtualized reality, visualization, sensor networks, and robotic navigation.

Aloimonos is active in the study of biological vision and is part of the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program. He also has worked with ISR Visiting Scholars from Toshiba and Honda in projects related to active vision.
