Biography

Richard M. Murray
United Technologies Research Center

Richard M. Murray is the Director of Mechatronic Systems at the United Techologies Research Center in East Hartford, Connecticut. He is on leave from the California Institute of Technology where he is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Murray received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1985 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988 and 1991, respectively. His research interests include nonlinear control of mechanical systems with applications to aerospace vehicles and robotic locomotion, active control of fluids with applications to propulsion and power systems, and nonlinear dynamical systems theory.
