Speaker: Dr. Ilaria Cianchetta, Scientific Editor at CHEM journal (Cell Press)

Title:  Publishing in Chem from Cell Press

Abstract:

Chem is the new top-tier general chemistry journal published by Cell Press. Our ambitions are lofty, as long term our expectation is that Chem will be for chemists, what Cell is for biologists. In this presentation, Dr. Cianchetta will provide an overview of Chem, their aims and scope, unique features and highlight some of the exceptional content that has been published in our first two years. The second half of the presentation will focus on the editorial process from manuscript preparation to decision, through submission and peer review.

Bio:

Dr. Ilaria Cianchetta received a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of La Sapienza and a MSc in Materials Science at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, Italy. She was awarded a scholarship to pursue her Ph.D. studies in Physical Chemistry at the University of Tor Vergata in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, in Germany, researching synthetic diamonds and nanodiamonds for photonics applications. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Cianchetta obtained a postdoctoral position in Los Angeles on a joint project between the Getty Conservation Institute, the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource and the Aerospace Corporation, funded by the NSF, to reverse engineer ancient Greek ceramic technology. She joined Cell Press in March 2016. In her current role, Dr. Cianchetta utilizes her broad background and expertise to handle physical chemistry and materials science papers submitted to Chem.
