The Journey from Engineering to the Law: An Ever-Changing Perspective

Joseph Drayton
Partner, Cooley LLP

Abstract: UMCP ECE Alum Joseph M. Drayton, a partner at the law firm of Cooley LLP will discuss his journey from College Park to design engineering to law school and then to Big Law in New York City and across the United States. His remarks will shed insight on the intersection of engineering and law, in light of the significant technological advances over the past 20 years. From the perspective of an intellectual property litigator, Mr. Drayton will describe ways in which engineers impact the legal profession. The law is a viable career path for UMCP Terrapins to consider. Mr. Drayton’s remarks will provide lessons learned that you may find useful regardless of your ultimate career decision.
