Smart City System Context-Level Architecture

This seminar is hosted by the INCOSE Critical Infrastructure Protection and Recovery
Working Group.

INCOSE’s Smart City Working Group is working to develop a reference architecture for smart cities. This presentation provides a proposed framework for developing SysML-based architecture.

Biography
Dr. John MacCarthy is currently an adjunct professor of physics at Wofford College and of engineering management at the University of Arkansas. Prior to this, he served as Director of the University of Maryland’s Systems Engineering Education Program, a Research Staff Member for the Institute for Defense Analyses, and in a variety of engineering leadership roles for Northrop Grumman and TRW, working on large complex systems of systems that included air and missile defense systems, wireless communications systems, sensor networks, and nuclear waste management. During this time, he also served as an adjunct professor of Systems Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. MacCarthy began his career as an assistant professor of physics at Muhlenberg College.

Dr. MacCarthy’s interests include physics, systems engineering, climate change, philosophy of science, sensor networks, artificial intelligence, and biophysics.
