Abstract

This conversation will reflect on Adam's education and experiences throughout his bachelor's degree, doctoral and postdoctoral work, and building a high-growth startup. He will share lessons learned and provide perspective on the opportunities and challenges associated with finding the right problem to tackle, the right technology to solve it, and using a deep scientific background to run a business.

Speaker Bio

Adam Behrens (BS '10, Ph.D. '15) is currently the CEO and co-founder of Mori, a venture-backed company that uses natural approaches to extend shelf life and reduce waste in the food, agriculture, and packaging industries. Adam has spent his career developing and translating technologies in the areas of food, agriculture, healthcare, and nutrition. Previously, he was a postdoctoral associate in the Langer Lab at MIT where he managed several projects focused on improving healthcare and nutrition in the developing world. He was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2017. Adam holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Kofinas lab at the University of Maryland.
