UMD iSchool: An Evening Honoring Ben Shneiderman

The UMD iSchool presents a reception celebrating the research of Professor Emeritus Ben Shneiderman (CS/UMIACS/ISR), founder of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab. Shneiderman is a pioneer of data visualization, and is well known for developing treemaps. The evening will highlight Shneiderman’s award-winning work and the 12 creative treemap artworks he produced with the help of ISR graduate assistant Kazi Minhaz Rahman (MIM iSchool 2013). Shneiderman will give a talk explaining the treemap idea and the artwork it inspired.
