Title: "The Whys and Hows of Translating Research Findings to Clinical Practice"
Speaker: Alyssa Davidson (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center)
Abstract: There is oftentimes a disconnect between what research tells us and what is actually happening in a clinical appointment. This presentation will address how to navigate this process in the field of audiology. Step one: what does the literature say? Step two: conduct the research to determine if clinical practice agrees with the literature and research recommendations. Step three: build trust and rapport between researchers and clinicians. This talk includes a summary of research addressing predicting hearing aid satisfaction in adults; the relationships between auditory and cognitive abilities; and hearing aid technology settings and speech in noise difficulties.
