UMD Mind Body Research and Applications Conference

Tuesday, April 10, 2018
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Banneker Room, Stamp Student Union

The goal of this half-day conference on mind-body research and applications is to bring faculty, staff and students together to network and develop research proposals and publicize existing applications, or develop new ones (e.g. mindfulness groups, proprioception training) to benefit the UMD campus and broader community. In recent years, Western biomedical research into the brain-body connection and associated wellness practices (e.g. meditation, yoga, acupuncture, physical activity) has experienced rapid growth. Yet, there are important research gaps to propel this field beyond infancy and to provide needed information to a public already widely using these practices. In addition, there is a growing interest among UMD students, staff and faculty in the use of such practices to reduce stress and increase their productivity. Please join us to express your interest and knowledge on this topic or to network and learn more.

The conference is sponsored by the Brain and Behavior Initiative and co-sponsored by the School of Public Health.

Registration is free, and lunch is provided.
