ECE Names 2017-2018 Distinguished Dissertation Fellows

The fellowships are awarded to outstanding students in the final stages of dissertation work in recognition of their research excellence. Each fellowship recipient will receive $3,000. The following authors’ dissertations were selected by a search committee. Professors Abed, Babadi, Dachman-Soled, and Daniels chose this year’s fellows:

Swaminathan Sankaranarayanan

Dissertation title: Towards Robust and Invariant Feature Representations in Deep Learning

Chuan Shi
Advised by Professor Alireza Khaligh
Dissertation title: Propulsion-System-Integrated Onboard Chargers for Electric Vehicles

Sohil Shah
Co-Advised by Professor Larry Davis and Professor Tom Goldstein
Dissertation title: Optimization Algorithm using priors in Computer Vision

Karim Banawan
Advised by Professor Sennur Ulukus
Dissertation title: Private information retrieval and security in networks
