: ENSE 621 : General Information

COURSE PREREQUISITES

  • Graduate level status in engineering.
  • A good knowledge of engineering mathematics (e.g., calculus, linear algebra, differential equations).
  • A willingness to create web-based projects demonstrating ideas from systems engineering principles.

  • Class. Th, 6.30 pm - 9.10 pm, Room 2107, A.J. Clark Engineering Building.

COURSE NOTES/TEXTS

  • The class notes will be distributed in two packets.
  • The lecture notes are 500 pages, and may be purchased from the Engineering Copy Center (next week) for $33.00.
  • The additional reading section is approximately 450 pages, and may be purchased from the Engineering Copy Center for $30.00.
  • I also recommend that you buy UML Distilled, Second Edition: A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modeling Language (The Addison-Wesley Object Technology Series) -- Martin Fowler, Kendall Scott; Paperback.

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

There will be two exams:

  • Midterm (25%) : Sometime in late October.
  • Final (35%) : 2 hrs long. Last day of classes.

Note.

  • There will be no midterm or final make-up exams.
  • Students may drop the midterm score is they do better in the final (i.e., the final exam can count for up to 60% of the grade)
  • The final exam must count for at least 35% of the final grade.
  • Occasional homework assignments will account for 10% of the grade.
  • The systems principles project will count for 30% of the grade.
