Barg, Tamo named winners of IEEE Information Theory Society Paper Award
Professor Alexander Barg (ECE/ISR) and his former postdoctoral researcher Itzhak Tamo (2013-2014) have received the 2015 IEEE Information Theory Society Paper Award for their paper, “A family of optimal locally recoverable codes.” The paper was published in the August 2014 edition of IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. Tamo is now a senior lecturer (assistant professor) at Tel Aviv University, Israel. The purpose of the Information Theory Paper Award is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in and encourage contributions to fields of interest of the Society. The award is given annually to an outstanding publication in the fields of interest to the Society appearing anywhere during the preceding two calendar years.
