Steve Biemer has 33 years of professional systems engineering and analysis experience as a Principal Engineer for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. His career has varied from Navy weapons systems concept development, design, an testing to DoD acquisition planning, programming and assessment. Mr. Biemer has conducted large-scale systems engineering for both the military and intelligence communities as well as the Department of Homeland Security in border security and immigration enforcement. In his career, Mr. Biemer has held both line management positions, supervising over 40 engineers and analysts, and program management positions, managing $5 million programs.

Biemer has over 22 years experience in systems engineering curriculum development and teaching. He has taught in all types of forums, including face-to-face, completely online, distance learning, and hybrids. He has also mentored over 400 Masters students in their senior projects.  

He holds an M.S. in Technical Management and Systems Engineering, and a M.S. in Computer Science, both from Johns Hopkins University. His undergraduate degree was in Mathematical Sciences, also from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering at George Washington University. Mr. Biemer is a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) and a member of the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

2010 INCOSE Recognition Award, Faculty Advisor for the INCOSE Chesapeake Chapter Student Division.

2003 Excellence in Teaching Award, Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.
