This workshop introduces faculty to strategies for developing formative and summative assessments of student progress. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify activities and tools useful for conducting low-stakes assessments of student progress
- Create a quiz and an assignment with the corresponding tools in ELMS
- Create a rubric to tie learning outcomes to an assignment to track student's learning mastery data
- Identify activities and tools useful for conducting summative, high-stakes assessments of student mastery that also attend to concerns about security and validation of student contributions
- Identify strategies and best practices for evaluating student success in the online environment (what do you need to know about their satisfaction?)
- Create a survey (mid-term evaluation, one minute paper)
Level: Intermediate
