Grad student Tarun Pruthi wins ASA best student paper award
Graduate student Tarun Pruthi, a Ph.D. student advised by Associate Professor Carol Espy-Wilson (ECE/ISR), won the Best Student Paper Award at this year's meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, held in Minneapolis last month. Tarun’s research topic was the automatic detection of vowel nasalization using knowledge-based acoustic parameters. His paper was titled, “Simulating and understanding the effects of velar coupling area on nasalized vowel spectra.”Published November 7, 2005
