Paul Houpt named an IEEE Fellow
ISR Strategic Advisory Council member Paul Houpt has been named an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to the control of transportation vehicles and systems. Houpt is the Control Projects Manager of the Automation and Controls Laboratory at General Electric Global Research in Schenectady, NY.
Houpt holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from MIT. From 1966-1970, he was a member of the technical staff in the Power Systems division of Bell Laboratories and worked on controls for the Apollo Lunar Lander. Since 1985, Houpt has been at GE Global Research and has served in several technical contributor and management roles, all associated with development of control systems for GE aircraft engines, power generation turbines and manufacturing processes. For GE Transportation, Rail Division, he continues to lead and contribute to teams that are developing locomotive controls to save fuel, reduce emissions and improve traction performance.
