UAE students, Northrop Grumman engineers tour robotics laboratories

Sixteen undergraduate students from the United Arab Emirates Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and nine Northrop Grumman unmanned systems engineers and representatives visited Maryland Robotics Center laboratories on Monday, Aug. 12. The students were winners of a UAV contest in their country sponsored by Northrop Grumman. They were in town to attend the annual conference of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.
While at Maryland the group toured the following facilities and learned about the research conducted in them.
Simulation-Based System Design Laboratory, hosted by Assistant Research Scientist Peter Svec.
Robotics Automation and Medical Systems Laboratory, hosted by Professor Jaydev Desai’s (ME) graduate students.
Presentation about educational opportunities available through the A. James Clark School of Engineering’s Office of Advanced Engineering Education by George Syrmos, Executive Director, OAEE.
