Abstract
The talk mainly focuses on the recent achievement about analysis and "control" of bounded confidence opinion dynamics. We introduce some well-known bounded-confidence opinion models of social networks (such as the Hegselmann-Krause model and Deffuant-Weisbuch model), and the related technical challenges. Note that the models are highly nonlinear and whose interaction topologies are time-varying and state-dependent. Therefore, the analysis for such models are usually much more difficult than that for the opinion models described by state-independent graphs. We first demonstrate two basic disagreement phenomena: fragmentation and fluctuation, and give strict mathematical analysis for opinion disagreement resulting from some opinion exchange rules. Then we discuss the "control" of opinion dynamics, called opinion intervention, in order to alter opinion evolution in social networks, and theoretically prove that simple noise-injection strategies are effective to enhance the opinion agreement.
