John Baras named IFAC Fellow

Professor John Baras (ECE/ISR) has been elevated to the rank of Fellow in the International Federation for Automatic Control (IFAC).

The citation reads, “For contributions to the theory and applications of stochastic systems and control and communication networks and for leadership in cross-disciplinary research and education.”

Baras will be honored along with other IFAC Fellows in the class of 2017 next July at the 20th IFAC World Congress in Toulouse, France.

Baras is the Lockheed Martin Chair in Systems Engineering for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Systems Research. He is the founding director of ISR and holds 15 U.S. patents and a software copyright in Internet protocols, networks, wireless networks, security and signal processing.
