Professor Jonathan Simon (ECE/ISR/Biology) has been awarded a one-year, $149,000 Seed Grant from the University of Maryland Brain and Behavior Institute (BBI).  “Toward a non-linguistic measure of auditory processing deficits in older and younger monolingual and bilingual adults” will have a dual focus on how age and bilingualism affect auditory stream segregation ability.

In Infrastructure for Collaborative Autonomy Testing, teams of autonomous ground robots and unmanned vehicles will be used in missions such as search-and-rescue, mining, material handling, and protecting secure facilities. Computer scientists and engineers are inventing and enhancing new algorithms that these autonomous systems will use to collaborate with each other. Better algorithms will improve team performance.
