Provide technical leadership & administer Master of Science Program in Systems Engineering.
With help from faculty in the ISR, drive/lead the curriculum development, operation, strategic planning and growth, and professional outreach for the ENSE program. Develop and implement recruitment strategies and outreach efforts (advertise/promote the program) to increase ENSE student population including women and minority students. Interact with industry/government lab personnel on issues related to systems engineering education, including marketing the program to local industry employees. Assist with efforts to generate funds to enhance the ENSE program. Attend annual INCOSE meetings, visit interested sites, and attend open houses, as appropriate. Oversee ENSE Admissions process.
Teach ENSE courses (one per semester). Manage Lecturer appointment process. Coordinate scheduling for ENSE courses offerings and oversee clearances for students to register for ENSE classes. Proctor exams when off-campus Lecturers have students who make special arrangements to take exams at other-than-usual class times.
Advise ENSE students through the stage until students select a research advisor. Monitor ENSE students’ progress toward degree completion. Assist in identifying potential ISR faculty members as research advisors/thesis committee members/scholarly paper readers for ENSE students. Collect information on employment/continuing education from ENSE graduates.
Interact with Office of Advanced Engineering Education (ENPM) on matters affecting cross-listed courses in Systems Engineering. Interact with other College of Engineering graduate programs where coordination would be mutually beneficial.
Coordinate relevant activities with ISR External Relations, Finance, and HR units to enhance benefits across ISR. Work as part of senior staff team to coordinate and integrate activities, focusing on ISR major initiatives and goals.
Reports to the ISR Director.
M.S. in Systems Engineering or closely related discipline; Ph.D. in Engineering highly desirable.
3-5 years of progressive experience in building systems in industry and/or lab settings. Teaching experience at the college level. Experience with computer software (word processing, database, spreadsheet, and internet experience required. (Preferred: experience in related academic/administrative activities and experience working with a diverse faculty/student/staff population, as well as administrators and campus officials.)
Must know how systems engineering works in industry/lab setting; be knowledgeable regarding graduate engineering education; be able to administer ENSE graduate program, and work with ISR faculty to identify new and emerging systems engineering technologies that can be served by offering regular courses/programs, as well as short courses; be able to work with ISR faculty to identify competent faculty to teach ENSE courses. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with international students; strong organization skills; strong computer skills (word processing/internet experience required; database/spreadsheets; web page development preferred); general knowledge of policies & procedures regarding graduate student affairs; ability to interact with personnel at various levels within and outside of the University for a variety of purposes.
Negotiable salary; commensurate with experience
