Abstract

A system for optical processing based on light-controlled photon tunneling is provided. The system includes a prism having a metallic film layer formed on an upper surface thereof. The metallic film layer has a microscopic aperture formed therethrough and the microscopic aperture is covered by a layer of non-linear optical film. A first light beam is projected towards aperture and photons from first light beam tunnel through aperture. A second light beam is also projected towards microscopic aperture, with the second light beam having a different wavelength than that of light beam.

Abstract

A method for dynamically allocating network resources while transferring multimedia at variable bit-rates in a network extracts first content features from the multimedia to determine renegotiation points and observation periods. Second content features and traffic features are extracted from the multimedia bit stream during the observation periods. The second content features and the traffic features are combined in a neural network to predict the network resources to be allocated at the renegotiation points.

The research investigates three classes of random graph models, namely random connection graphs, random intersection graphs and a combination thereof known as Kryptographs. Both the models and research questions are driven by applications from the fields of wireless networking and sensor network security.
