Data visualization aids the public's pandemic understanding

In a new essay, ISR-affiliated Distinguished University Professor Emeritus Ben Shneiderman (CS) writes about the importance data visualization is playing in the public’s understanding of the coronavirus pandemic.

In Data Visualization's Breakthrough Moment in the COVID-19 Crisis, Shneiderman writes: “The complexity and importance of COVID-19 has put data visualization center stage in worldwide discussions. The free public websites have boosted data visualization literacy, which could lead to more people using interactive tools to explore data for many applications and then presenting their results to more receptive visually literate audiences.”
